Ingredients
1poundJimmy Dean pork sausage
1 1/2cupsheavy cream or whole milk
8large eggs
2cupsshredded cheddar cheese
1package frozen tater totsapproximately 24 oz
1 1/2teaspoonssalt
1/4teaspoongarlic powder
1teaspoonblack pepper
Instructions
Begin by preheating the oven to 375°F and greasing a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.
In a skillet over medium heat, brown the sausage, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Once fully browned, drain any excess fat and set the sausage aside.
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream (or whole milk), salt, garlic powder, and black pepper until well combined.
Spread an even layer of frozen tater tots across the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Sprinkle the cooked sausage evenly over the tater tots, followed by the shredded cheddar cheese.
Pour the whisked egg mixture over the cheese and sausage, ensuring the liquid is evenly distributed across the dish.
Cover the casserole with aluminum foil to prevent the edges from cooking too quickly.
Bake for 40 minutes, then remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the center of the casserole is fully set. Be sure to check around the 40-45 minute mark, as oven times may vary.
Once done, serve hot and pair with sour cream, salsa, fresh tomatoes, or crispy bacon for added flavor.
Notes
If your frozen tater tots come in a 32 oz bag, you may have some leftover after assembling the casserole.
