Arrange the green beans evenly across a large rimmed baking sheet. Drizzle with your choice of oil, then sprinkle with salt and a pinch of pepper. Toss thoroughly to ensure each bean is evenly coated. Spread them out so they lie in a single layer across the sheet. (Tip: Lining the sheet with parchment paper eases cleanup but omitting it allows for more caramelization.)
Place the pan in the oven and roast the green beans for 10 to 12 minutes, or until they reach your desired level of tenderness. For a slightly crisp, browned texture, extend roasting by an additional 1–2 minutes.
Once done, transfer the green beans to a serving dish. Finish with any of the optional toppings, if using.
