Ingredients

  • 16 oz vanilla or chocolate candy melts or melted white, milk, or dark chocolate
  • 36 Oreo cookies use original, not Double Stuf, with an additional 3 cookies crushed for garnish, if desired
  • 1 8 oz package of cream cheese, softened

Instructions

  • Prepare a large baking sheet by lining it with wax paper or parchment paper.
  • Using a food processor, finely crush 36 Oreo cookies, including the cream filling, into crumbs.
  • Add the softened cream cheese to the cookie crumbs and pulse intermittently until the mixture is thoroughly blended.
  • Scoop approximately 1 tablespoon of the mixture at a time, rolling it into 1-inch balls. Arrange the formed balls on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Transfer the baking sheet to the freezer and chill the truffles for 15 minutes. Meanwhile, crush the reserved 3 Oreo cookies if using as a topping.
  • Melt the candy melts or chocolate following the package instructions until smooth.
  • Remove the truffles from the freezer, dip each one into the melted chocolate, and use a spoon to drizzle additional chocolate over the tops. Allow the excess to drip off before placing the coated truffles back on the baking sheet.
  • Immediately sprinkle the tops with crushed Oreo crumbs if desired, and allow the chocolate to set completely.
  • Store the finished truffles in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Notes

For a festive peppermint variation, incorporate crushed peppermint candy into the truffle mixture or sprinkle it on top of the chocolate coating.
