Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs chicken wings cut into drums and flats or use whole wings
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce divided; use a keto BBQ sauce or any Kansas City-style or hickory BBQ sauce
  • 3 tbsp BBQ seasoning use your preferred recipe
  • 1.5 tbsp baking powder optional, for a crispier skin

Instructions

Prepare the Wings

  • Dry the chicken wings thoroughly with paper towels.
  • Generously sprinkle the BBQ seasoning over the wings.
  • Toss to evenly coat the wings in the seasoning. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for a minimum of 4 hours, preferably overnight.

Oven Directions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Remove the wings from the refrigerator.
  • For a crispier texture, sprinkle the baking powder over the wings and toss again to distribute evenly.
  • Arrange the wings on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or fitted with a cooling rack.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, then flip and bake for another 20 minutes on the opposite side.
  • Brush half of the BBQ sauce evenly over both sides of the wings.
  • Continue baking for an additional 5-10 minutes until the sauce begins to caramelize.
  • Before serving, brush with the remaining BBQ sauce for added flavor.

Notes

Adjust the baking time slightly if your wings are particularly large or small.
For best results, marinate the wings overnight to enhance the flavor.
Use baking powder to achieve an extra crispy wing skin without frying.
