Ingredients

  • Fresh cracked pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise optional
  • 7 –8 oz. sliced Swiss cheese
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 16 oz. thinly sliced deli ham
  • 1 package 12 oz. King’s Hawaiian rolls (12 count)
  • Kosher salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9×9 or 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or a thin coat of butter.
  • Using a serrated knife, cut the entire loaf of Hawaiian rolls horizontally, keeping the top and bottom halves intact as single slabs.
  • Position the bottom half in the prepared baking dish and toast in the oven for 3–5 minutes to prevent sogginess.
  • Evenly spread mayonnaise across the toasted bottom buns, if using.
  • Distribute the ham slices uniformly over the bottom layer, then follow with a layer of Swiss cheese. Top with the remaining bun slab.
  • In a microwave-safe measuring cup, melt the butter. Stir in poppy seeds, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, and a generous pinch of salt and pepper until well blended.
  • Pour the seasoned butter mixture evenly over the assembled sliders, ensuring thorough coverage.
  • Return the dish to the oven and bake uncovered for 10 minutes. Then, cover with a greased piece of foil (greased side down) and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before slicing into individual sliders. Serve warm.

Notes

Ensure the fillings extend fully to the edges of the buns to promote even cooking and consistent taste in each slider.
Before pouring, stir the butter mixture to redistribute any settled ingredients for uniform flavor.
Aim for even distribution of the sauce over the sliders to achieve a consistent and delicious finish.
