A comforting dessert classic, this blueberry crisp offers a delightful blend of juicy fruit and a golden, crumbly topping. With minimal prep and a richly satisfying flavor, it makes for an ideal treat any day of the week.
Zest the lemon and extract the juice from one half.
In a mixing bowl, combine the blueberries with granulated sugar, lemon zest, 1 tablespoon of the lemon juice, and 3 tablespoons of flour. Transfer the mixture into a 2-quart baking dish.
In a separate bowl, use a fork to mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, oats, ¼ cup flour, optional sliced almonds, and cinnamon until the mixture becomes crumbly. Evenly distribute this topping over the blueberry mixture.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the topping achieves a golden hue and the fruit beneath bubbles. Allow to cool slightly before serving warm.
