Ingredients

  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup 1 stick butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 450°F (232°C).
  • In a medium-sized bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt. Whisk the ingredients together until evenly mixed.
  • Pour in the buttermilk and gently stir until a moist dough forms. Avoid overmixing.
  • Pour the melted butter into an 8x8-inch baking dish, ensuring it covers the bottom evenly.
  • Place the dough on top of the melted butter in the baking dish. Use a spatula to spread the dough evenly, extending it to the edges of the pan.
  • Cut the dough into 9 equal squares before placing it in the oven.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.
  • Remove from the oven, let cool slightly, and serve warm. Enjoy!
